An extremely rare pair of 12-inch Charles Price & Benjamin Scott terrestrial and celestial globes

The spheres are mounted in graduated brass meridians and supported on oak stands consisting of four turned legs connected by cross beams and a circular base-plate. Both globes engraved with English and Latin names.

The oval cartouche on the terrestrial globe reads: "Caro: Price/Londini/Fecit/1715."

Below the cartouche: "Sold by C. Price and B. Scott at the Atlas Against Exeter Change in ye Strand."

The cartouche on the celestial globe reads: "Caro: Price/Londini/Fecit."

The terrestrial globe bears numerous vignettes on the seas, the climate and characteristics of particular countries and their specific produce. The monsoon winds are indicated with arrows, the Chinese wall is depicted and great parts of North-West America and Australia remain unrecorded.

English, dated 1715.
